A variety of Eco Retreats offering yoga, detox, soaking and stargazing in our outdoor hot tub, sessions in our infrared sauna, guided walks through the Leitrim hills, guest teachers, wonderful food and a chance to relax and unwind with likeminded company.

Over the course of each retreat we will explore the beautiful Leitrim countryside, connect with our innerselves and with nature. Greet the day with daily yoga classes, then soak in our outdoor hot tub as you gaze at the mountains. There is plenty of time to explore the Ard Nahoo grounds, with Celtic Nature Trail and Meditation Mandala. Delicious organic vegetarian meals are provided by local chef, Maria.

Outside of retreat dates, Ard Nahoo is open and welcomes visitors for self catering breaks in our unique Eco Cabins. Take time to immerse yourself in nature, indulge in sessions in our indoor/outdoor 'Uisce Area' with sauna and hot tub overlooking Ard Nahoo, relax with a massage or take in a yoga class. 5 Day Detox Retreat

Refresh body and mind with a 5 day detox at Ard Nahoo. Take time to eat well, exercise and enjoy nature on this transformational holiday. Each day will begin with a yoga class, designed to wake up tired muscles and kick start the day. This will be followed by an 'Uisce Hour', which will eliminate toxins, burn calories and soothe muscles. After a healthy vegan meal we'll set off for a walk through the stunning Leitrim countryside, and take in the delights this beautiful county has to offer. When we return to Ard Nahoo, there is some free time for you to rest and relax before a light meal of soup and salad is served in the evening.

Yoga, Walking and Relaxation Retreat

Get a wonderfully rejuvenating kick start to the summer. A weekend filled with yoga, guided walks around stunningly rugged countryside, hot tub sessions and divine organic vegetarian food. Our last Yoga and Relaxation Retreat was featured in the Irish Times, to great review.

Are you based in the local area? You can attend as a day retreat guest, enjoying all of Saturday's activities. Classes can also be taken on a 'pay as you go' basis.

Family Eco Retreat

Why not opt for the eco friendly family holiday, and stay a little closer to home this summer? Ard Nahoo is the ideal location for families. Settled on six acres of green countryside and far away from anything resembling traffic, kids love the opportunity to run wild in a clean and safe environment.

Certified Ecotourism

This retreat has been certified according to the Greenbox Ecotourism Label Standard which means that all the key elements of ecotourism are met as part of the experience. (A full list of criteria can be found on http://www.greenbox.ie/)

Environment

Ard Nahoo's aim is to work in harmony with the environment and operate a reduce, reuse and recycle policy. The yoga studio and eco cabins are heated with a wood pellet stove. Energy saving bulbs are used throughout and electricity is supplied by a wind energy company. Guests who have flown in have an opportunity to plant a tree to offset their carbon footprint. All waste is recycled and composted as far as possible and only eco friendly detergents and disinfectants are used on site. Vegetables are delivered through a local box scheme and food is bought in bulk to avoid plastic packaging. The accommodation has been certified to EU Ecolabel Standard (The EU Flower Standard).

Learning

These packages actively supports learning about nature, biodiversity, and culture and guests have ample opportunities to interact with knowledgeable people based in the Leitrim region. Noeleen intends that the Eco Retreat will act as a transformative experience and says that ideally she hopes that "visitors will be able to incorporate the skills and knowledge learned on their holiday into their day to day activities to make their lives richer & become kinder to the environment". Guests can also expect to learn about connection with nature and the higher self, green living, organic & vegetarian food and living with less energy.

Conservation

By choosing this package you are supporting conservation in the following ways. The promoter, Noeleen Tyrell, actively supports conservation initiatives in her local school and in particular the children's participation in the Green Flag Scheme. Ard Nahoo also organises Dawn Chorus mornings which are open to the public. A percentage of the cost of the ecotourism experiences goes towards the following conservation bodies- Birdwatch Ireland, CRANN and The Irish Seed Savers Association. Ard Nahoo has created a wildlife pond and have planted over two hundred endangered and native species of trees. Bird feeders, nesters and bat boxes have also been placed around the site. A large colony of badgers are living on the grounds alongside hares, foxes and other smaller animals.

Supporting the local community 

This package supports the employment of a number of individuals and businesses in the local community including a range of alternative therapists; Nikki Briere, a local gardener and herbalist; Peter Cowman, a progressive "sustainable" architect based in Leitrim village; and Maria McCole, Ard Nahoo's chef.
Much of the organic food provided as part of the experience comes from local organic producers Ingrid Foley and Mary Luthers. Several local shops, restaurants and visitor attractions including The Organic Centre and The Wild Rose Water Bus also benefit.
