The first thing you smell when you walk into Clancy's is the smell of baking bread. Not the stuff they pipe through supermarkets but the real thing. As you will see when you poke your head through the kitchen window to catch sight of the chef with seven bowls of bread mixture, all waiting to be gently mixed and kneaded into the most perfect brown bread. The work never stops at Clancy's, whose restaurant is a favourite breakfast stop for Leitrim locals, en route for their day's business, (it is located on the N16 route, linking the NE of Ireland with the West). Here, they can also use the Post Office, grocery store and buy their daily paper. Clancy's is definitely the place to be in Leitrim of a morning.

As well as ensuite bedrooms for guests, there is also a two bedroom apartment at Clancy's. Jim and Assumpta Clancy not only ensure excellent eco-credentials at the bed and breakfast, such as the use of eco-friendly cleaning products, green electricity, low-energy lightbulbs, and water conservation, but  also promote low carbon activities. They offer walking and cycling packages, and an impressive golfing/gourmet package, with 18 holes of golf along the shores of Lough Macnean. This is followed by dinner at Macnean Bistro, one of the most celebrated restaurants in Ireland, where the owner is a strong proponent of the Slowfood movement. They also include a trip to the nearby Marble Arch Caves European Geopark, showing that supporting the local tourism suppliers in Leitrim is at the core of Clancy's criteria for sustainability.
