Hazelfort is a large self-catering house for visitors wanting to enjoy not only Donegal's coast, but also the nearby Lakelands of County Fermanagh. The McCauley family built it on their farm where they have been hosting visitors for over thirty years.
Hazelfort is designed with families in mind. There are four bedrooms, two doubles and two singles, a large kitchen and family room, with a wood-burning stove for colder days and a light-infused conservatory for sunnier ones. Heating at Hazelfort is sourced geothermally, and the McCauley family has taken this green theme into all areas of their business. They use eco-friendly cleaning products, energy-saving bulbs and appliances, they recycle and compost as much as possible and they invite their guests to participate in low-carbon activities, such as surfing at nearby Rossnowlagh' s Blueflag beach, and walking in the Benbulben mountain range, which provides the backdrop for Jim and Beatrice's family farm. For horesriding, one of their top recommendations is to try out the wild (north) western-style horseriding, on their imported American quaterbacks, donning cowboy hats and boots, at Five Oaks Ranch in Ballyshannon.
If two wheels rather than four legs is your preferred mode of transport, you can arrange to hire bikes at Hazelfort, and take on the laneways which cross the border into
