Corralea is a small family-run activity centre on the shores of Lough MacNean in Fermanagh. All activities are motor-free and family-friendly, such as water trampolining, canoeing, archery, an outdoor climbing wall, caving, windsurfing and mountain biking. Marius and Isabelle Leonard host and teach families, youth groups and anyone in search of some outdoor fun.
There are six cottages overlooking the Lough, four of which have solar panels, and all have wood-burning stoves, with endless supplies of wood sourced from Corralea's predominantly Birch woodland. All have been accredited with the EU Flower eco-label; as well as having solar power, they have low-energy lightbulbs, full recycling facilities, use of eco-friendly products for cleaning and external solar lights for minimal intrusion on the natural light and landscape of this stunning lakeshore location.
Corralea is all about enjoying the outdoors, and its list of low-carbon activities all revolve around the Lough, a map of which is given to all guests. They also offer two innovative weekend eco-packages. One is "Mountain bike away, and canoe home", cycling with a guide through forest trails and along the Lough shore, stopping for lunch and then paddling back to base. Marius takes things at a pace to suit all levels of fitness, so everyone is welcome. The other package is underground, exploring the area's caves, rock formations and hydrology, with a qualified cave leader. So, whether you are donning a cycling or a caving helmet, or just want to sit by the Lough and watch the young ones get on with it, Corralea is open to one and all.
