Situated between the Marble Arch Caves European Geopark, one of Europe's finest show caves, and Florencecourt House, one of the National Trust's finest 18th century mansions in Northern Ireland, with the Cuilcagh mountains providing the icing on the cake in terms of backdrop, this guesthouse does not need eco-credentials to sell it to its guests, who come back year after year. But being green for marketing purposes is not what Arch House is about. This is a farm, which has lived and breathed good eco-practices for years, like so many farmers, who put the protection and respect of the environment at the top of their priority list. Which is why they have worked to achieve EU Flower accreditation, for their use of eco-friendly products, energy-saving lightbulbs, water-saving and the provision of environmental information to their guests. Their other top priority is, of course, the comfort of their guests, who come back year after year, and are accommodated in one of six stylish rooms, either family, double or twin.
Their ecotourism product is not just strong on eco-friendly practices, but it also supports local food producers, selling their produce in the farmshop, as well in their award-winning breakfasts and dinners. Guests are encouraged to visit the beef and sheep farm, which is the centrepoint of the Arch House, reminding visitors that rural life is not just about mountains and lakes. Daily farm life continues around the guests, from calfing season to the ever-important farm bread-making sessions, which visitors are invited to watch if they want to see how the perfect Irish brown bread is made.
